Gallery update: rare & unseen pictures!

I’ve just uploaded some awesome pictures to the gallery! Most of them are of Play or Janet during her solo career.

Play in Los Angeles in 2001

Several never before seen photoshoot pictures of Play were added here. They were taken during a trip to Los Angeles in 2001, they’re so young!

Play being dark and edgy

A new shot and a larger, better quality, shot of Play during 2010 was added here.

Janet during the RixFM festival

There’s a few new shots of Janet attending various events in 2009, such as the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Stockholm Fashion Week, and a King Magazine event. There’s even a few from her performance during RixFM’s summer festival in Norrkoping.

Finally, a few more pictures of Janet from various photo shoots were also added here, here, and here.

Hope you enjoy!

Various Gallery Updates!

Hello! I know I’m not around as much anymore, but I don’t have much time right now because of school and work. I only have a few more weeks of classes though, so I can get more internet things done soon :)

Play during Motivationsturnén

So while searching the other night with some free time, I found some old pictures from Play’s ‘Motivationsturnén‘ that the group did in 2010. I’ve added those to the gallery, and there’s even a few higher quality ones! There’s also one new old picture of Play at the 2010 Grammisgalan.

Anaïs at Work

I’ve also found one new, fairly recent, picture of Anaïs while she is at work at Assefa Communications! Laila posted it on her blog, and said that they share the office with Laila’s jewelry brand Rock by Sweden. You can see that picture in the gallery here.

Exclusive pictures from Emelie

An exclusive shot of Play during their time in NY

I have added some new pictures from Play’s trip to the United States earlier in the year to the gallery, sent to me exclusively from Emelie. She was also kind enough to send a new picture from their photoshoot as well. She is a very sweet girl and I hope her all the best in the future.

Glen talks about Play’s TV show

In case you didn’t know, Play worked with Glen Kulik when they were still together. Glen posted a comment on Play Mania about the show they were pitching to different TV channels, which you can read below.

For those of you who are still sad and still enjoy hearing further information about Play let me tell you about some television “facts” you might find interesting. In January, we were working with two television production companies on two separate concepts. With the first group we went to MTV. As I told you months ago, we had a first meeting in LA and MTV liked the girls enough that they wanted to meet with them and me alone in New York, so the girls and I flew to NY to have that second meeting just ourselves.  Continue reading

Play members go their separate ways

As much as this saddens me, I will continue to support the girls in their solo careers and hope other Play fans do as well! I want to wish them good luck with everything they plan to do in the future. As for Sweet Voices, I will continue to update on the girl’s solo careers at least until the hosting and domain run out, which won’t be any time soon because there’s still almost a year left on that. I want to thank all the fans who continue to visit Sweet Voices, and let everyone know that because of this news there will be some changes to the site soon.

As many of you know, since last summer I have worked with Play in planning the group’s return to the U.S. this year. I am very sorry to tell you that what started out with such great promise has ended unexpectedly and unhappily, for the girls had a disagreement and broke up over it. Since it does not appear they are going to make any kind of statement I feel I owe it to you, the fans, to try to put this past year in some perspective so we can all have closure from what has been an emotional ten year roller coaster ride with this group. “The Girls Upstairs” promotional reel

Below is a 5 minute video reel Play created to show television companies their acting skills and how they work together.

Play also sent a message about the video:

Hello, everyone. We thought you might enjoy seeing a five minute promotional reel which will show you a little bit of our acting abilities. This was produced to give MTV a sense of the look and feel our show might have on their network. The producers are using the title “The Girls Upstairs” at the present time. Whenever you hear us talk it is “in character” for the show. Sanne’s character is called “Sondra,” Anais is “Laila,” and Emelie is still Emelie. It was filmed mostly in different places around Beverly Hills. The roof top scenes are at the hotel where we stayed, the Thompson Beverly Hills (which was amazing). We hope you think this is fun and entertaining. Let us know!

Play covering Green Day song “Time of Your Life”

This is really the first time we get to hear Play with new member Emelie Norenberg! Watch the video below:

Play has also sent us some info about this video:

We notice in the past few days many of you have commented that you would like to hear how we sounded during our recent trip to LA and NY. A clip has been posted on youtube of us performing the song Time of Your Life. We thought you might be interested in a little of the background. As many of you know, Play has always enjoyed performing acapellas and when we meet new people we usually perform in that manner so people can really hear how we sound. Three days before our recent trip we received a call from some of the television people with whom we are working stating that we had to be ready to perform the song Time of Your Life by Green Day. It was not a request, it is an order! So we quickly had to learn the words and create our own vocal arrangement. That is something which normally takes alot of time and practice, but in this case we only had three days. When we arrived in LA we were still perfecting the sound so we were a little unsure of ourselves. When we sang we alternated doing that song with Not The One and Too Lost In You. But the more we performed Time Of Your Life during the trip the more we liked it and became comfortable singing it. We would practice in the car on the way to our many meetings. The clip you will see on youtube was from the later part of our trip when we were in New York and by then we felt comfortable. The visual on this clip is not great but the accoustics in the room were good so the sound is good and it will give you a chance to hear how we sound. Another thing that was positive about this clip is the previous week when we were in LA Emelie had a cold for much of the week but she was feeling much better by the time we reached New York and so her voice was its normal strong and beautiful self. You may find it funny to see how bundled up we were since it was only 18 degrees in NY during that day, and we had just come from LA where it was 80 degrees and we were wearing shorts and were outside most of the time. Our next video we post will be from LA and you can see the contrast. You have a very interesting country, where it can be 80 degrees in one place while it is 18 degrees in another. Sweden is very small and at this time of year it is cold and dark everywhere.

Hope this gives you a little insight on the creation of our latest acapella and that you like it when you listen to the youtube clip. Thanks for all your continuing support.

Love, Sanne, Anais and Emelie

Play singing “Too Lost In You”

You can watch a video of Play singing the Sugababes song Too Lost In You below, along with some info about the video from Play:

Thanks for all the great suggestions for cover songs — you guys are really amazing. We are going to take some time to listen to the songs we are not familiar with and once any decisions are made we’ll let you know.

We have posted another song on youtube, and the link is below. This one is Too Lost In You. It was performed at the home of David Von Ancken the morning after we arrived in LA recently. As you can see it was a beautiful day and we were in his backyard where he made us a great breakfast and we discussed business. David is a writer and director who works on Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl and Californication. He also wrote and is set to direct the new movie Eminem is going to star in soon that you may have read about. He asked us to sing a couple of songs for him and this is one of them. We had a fun morning with David, his manager Seth, producer Ned Nalle (who is a former president of Universal Television) and Bruce Sandzimier who is head of post production for the ABC television network. We had a great time that morning and hope you enjoy this version of Too Lost In You. By the way, we noticed a few of you suggested we do an actual recording of the song as our cover — an idea we certainly will consider.

Love, Emelie, Sanne, and Anais
